live music scene... leaving their mark. Recent highlights include blowing away the competition at Toronto's PARAGON, and being selected to play in Hamilton's HMS Festival 2003.
A new EP, featuring live and studio tracks, was released in the Summer of 2003.
Thunderous and precise drumming; maniacal and explosive basslines; crunchy and outlandish guitar riffage; roars, croons, and inspiring melodies... Live, it's the energy of madmen with a compulsion. It must be the result of their classic influences: the complexity of Tool and Rush; the heaviness of Pantera and Metallica; the experimentation and eccentricity of bands like Primus, Pink Floyd, and Dream Theater. Socially, politically, and metaphysically, Shatter Instinct
is a manifold response to the existing world. The band promotes
tolerance and peace, and chooses to explore the exceptional circumstances of human existence on the small and large level. They take on any topic, particularly the outshining or unpleasant.
Like their music, their lyrics and thoughts push the envelope, hoping for enlightenment or evolution. To move on, we must annihilate the status quo. We must shed our skin. We must eliminate the already...
